Can budgies eat pineapple?

Yes, in small amounts

Yes, in small amounts. Fresh pineapple is safe for budgies, but it is sugary and acidic, so offer only a small piece occasionally.

Portion
One or two pieces about 1 cm (⅜ in) across
How often
Once or twice a week
Sugar
9.9 g / 100 g

How to serve it

  1. Cut away the spiky skin, eyes and hard core
  2. Dice the fresh flesh into small pieces
  3. Avoid canned pineapple in syrup
  4. Remove leftovers within a couple of hours

Why

Risks. Its sugar and acidity mean too much can upset digestion or add unwanted calories. VCA advises against canned fruit because it may be packed in sugar.

Benefits. Fresh pineapple adds fiber, moisture and variety.

Questions owners ask 1

Can budgies eat pineapple skin or leaves?

It is best not to. They are tough and fibrous and offer nothing useful; give only the peeled flesh.
