Can budgies eat cantaloupe?

Yes, in small amounts

Yes, in small amounts. Cantaloupe is one of the more useful fruits for budgies because its orange flesh is rich in beta-carotene, but it is still sugary.

Portion
A cube about 1 cm (⅜ in) across
How often
2–3 times a week
Sugar
7.9 g / 100 g

How to serve it

  1. Scrub the rind under running water before cutting
  2. Cut away the rind and scoop out the seeds
  3. Dice the orange flesh into small cubes
  4. Remove leftovers within a couple of hours

Why

Risks. Its sugar content means it should stay a small part of the diet. The netted rind can carry bacteria, so wash it before cutting.

Benefits. VCA and Merck list cantaloupe among foods rich in vitamin A precursors, a nutrient that seed-heavy diets lack.
