Can budgies eat celery?

Yes, in small amounts

Yes, in small amounts. Celery is not toxic, but it is mostly water with few nutrients, and its long strings should be cut short for a bird as small as a budgie.

Portion
A few pieces of stalk about 5 mm (¼ in) long, or a few chopped leaves
How often
Once or twice a week
Sugar
1.3 g / 100 g

How to serve it

  1. Wash the celery well
  2. Peel off or cut out the stringy fibers
  3. Chop the stalk into pieces no longer than 5 mm (¼ in)
  4. Chop the leafy tops finely
  5. Remove leftovers within a couple of hours

Why

Risks. VCA advises feeding celery sparingly because its high water content gives birds few nutrients. The long fibers in the stalk are a possible choking or crop-blockage hazard for small birds, so cut them short.

Benefits. Celery leaves carry more nutrients than the watery stalk, and the crunch can be enriching.
