Can cockatiels eat celery?

Yes, in small amounts

Yes, in small amounts. Celery is safe for cockatiels but mostly water, so vets advise feeding it sparingly, cut into short pieces with the strings removed.

Portion
A few pieces about 1 cm (⅜ in) long, or about 2 teaspoons of chopped leaves
How often
Once or twice a week
Sugar
1.3 g / 100 g

How to serve it

  1. Wash the celery
  2. Remove the stringy fibers
  3. Cut the stalk into short pieces
  4. Take away leftovers after a couple of hours

Why

Risks. Low nutritional value because of the high water content. Long stringy fibers are best removed as a precaution.

Benefits. Many cockatiels enjoy the crunch, and the leaves add some extra nutrients.
