Can cockatiels eat pumpkin?

Yes — safe in normal portions

Yes. Plain pumpkin flesh is a good regular vegetable for cockatiels, supplying beta-carotene with little fat, and it can be offered raw or cooked.

How to serve it

  1. Peel the pumpkin and remove pulp and seeds
  2. Dice or grate raw, or cook plain and cool
  3. Do not use canned pie filling or spiced pumpkin products

Why

Risks. Very low risk when fresh and plain. Avoid moldy or decorative pumpkins.

Benefits. Orange squash and pumpkin supply carotenoids that cockatiels convert to vitamin A.
