Can budgies eat corn?

Yes, in small amounts

Yes, in small amounts. Fresh or thawed sweetcorn is safe for budgies, but it is starchy and sweet, so treat it as an occasional extra rather than a staple vegetable.

Portion
Three to five kernels, or a thin round of cob about 1 cm (⅜ in) thick to pick at, taken away after a short while
How often
Once or twice a week
Sugar
6.3 g / 100 g

How to serve it

  1. Use fresh sweetcorn or frozen kernels thawed to room temperature
  2. Serve raw or lightly cooked, with no butter or salt
  3. Throw away any corn that looks or smells moldy
  4. Remove leftovers within a couple of hours

Why

Risks. Sweetcorn is higher in sugar and starch than most vegetables. Moldy corn and other grains can carry fungal toxins, so offer only fresh, clean corn.

Benefits. The AAV suggests a piece of corn on the cob as something fun to destroy that doubles as a snack.
