Can hamsters eat garlic?
No. Garlic contains the same red-blood-cell-damaging compounds as onion, and veterinary toxicology rates it about 3-5 times more potent. Never feed it to hamsters in any form.

If your hamster already ate some
Call your vet promptly, even if your hamster seems well, and say how much was eaten and in what form. Signs of anaemia, such as weakness, pale ears, feet and nose, fast breathing or reduced appetite, may take several days to appear.
Why
Risks. Garlic, like onion, contains sulfur-containing oxidants that damage red blood cells and can cause Heinz body anaemia; signs can take several days to appear. Garlic powder, oil and supplements are concentrated.
